A Humble Honor: Cups of Change Receives an Invitation to Royal Reception

There are moments in life that leave you speechless, moments that fill your heart with gratitude and humility. Receiving an invitation to attend a reception in honor of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria’s visit to Nigeria is one of those moments for me.

As I sit with this invitation in my hands, I can’t help but reflect on the journey of Cups of Change. What started as a spark of an idea—a simple yet profound conversation with my family in Nigeria—has grown into a mission that I hold close to my heart. To think that this work, this passion to create change, has been acknowledged in this way is both humbling and deeply moving.

The thoughtfulness of this invitation is not lost on me. It signifies more than just a gesture; it’s a recognition of the importance of menstrual health, dignity, and education. It’s a reminder that the work we do at Cups of Change matters—not just to the women and girls we serve, but to a broader community that believes in the power of change and empowerment.

Cups of Change was born from a simple yet revolutionary idea: that every woman deserves the freedom to live her life without shame, stigma, or barriers because of her period. This invitation is a testament to that vision, and it gives me hope that our message is being heard.

To be included in such an esteemed gathering is not just an honor for me personally, but for everyone who has supported this mission. It’s for the women and girls in West Africa who inspire us every day with their resilience. It’s for the donors, partners, and advocates who believe in the power of education and dignity. It’s for the community we are building, one cup, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time.

I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude—not just for this invitation, but for the opportunity to represent the voices and stories of the women and girls we serve. Cups of Change is more than an organization; it’s a movement, a promise, and a beacon of hope.

To Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria and the Swedish Embassy in Nigeria, thank you for seeing the value in what we do. Thank you for acknowledging the importance of menstrual health and breaking the silence around periods. Your recognition fuels our determination to continue this work with even greater passion and purpose.

As much I wished I could attend this monumental occation, I don't know how to. If anyone have any Ideas, I would be deeply and forever grateful.

This is once in a lifetime occation 🙏🏽

With heartfelt gratitude,

Jessica Marcus
